"I asked my friends to come to my studio in their favourite clothes, their ideal
garments, for a short photo session. Once there, I asked them to undress from
the waist down. They’d come along in their armour, and there I was asking
them to drop their guard and expose themselves in all their vulnerability! It
was a moment of truth. Out of 32 models, only one refused. Worse still, on the
evening of the private view, a number of acquaintances collared me, grousing
that I hadn’t asked them to pose!"
